(More customer reviews)I must commend mr. james m. forbes for writing a most delightful book on that most sacred of all things to those who savor the flavor and taste of that delectible nector mere mortals call coffee and those who know it intimately in all it's variations call ambrosia. Seriously, this is a fun book that I wish had been available back in the day when I was a serious coffee junkie and next to chocolate, considered coffee the gift of the gods indeed. I stumbled apon this 1993 first edition by mere "chance" and quickly ordered it. I've read every page and my mind just explodes with delight at the memory of the coffee shops I've visited among the many listed and I'm sad with the knowledge of the many more that no longer
exist or have closed since this book was published. For example, ONE WORLD CAFE,pictured on the inside of the front cover and reviewed on page 294, closed in january of 2010. Still, it'a a fantastic and
wonderful book for anyone who worships the bean. Is there a possibility of a revised 2nd edition out
soon? Many more coffee shops have been established since and need to be included for coffee drinkers
of the present and the future yet to be. Once again, many thanks to mr. forbes for this wonderful
edition of coffee culture and history in that beautiful city by the bay, San Francisco!!!
