Allie Pleiter's BAD HEIRESS DAY is a great read and here's why: What would YOU do with a million dollars?? I asked myself this question even as Darcy, the heroine of this book, did the same. Her father left her $1 million after his death--money Darcy had no idea he even had--with his dying request that she "give it all away." What would you do? Would you be able to do as your father requested or would you ignore it all and go on a wild shopping spree? I have to admit, as a Christian I wasn't too happy with the answer I found myself rooting for as I read. After all, what woman wouldn't dream of a new dishwasher and refrigerator--especially when the originals are daring to take their last breath? I actually wanted Darcy to go crazy even when I knew this wouldn't be what God would want and wasn't the moral of the story. I struggled right along with Darcy as she fought with herself--and her husband--in understanding why her father asked her to do what he had all the while fighting anger at him for hiding a situation with such monumental consequences. There were a few slow moments which is why I couldn't offer Ms. Pleiter 5 stars but all in all it was a book that left me with a good warm feeling inside and I will definitely be looking forward to her next one!
