(More customer reviews)Wonderfully literate with evocative lyrical prose. Chandra Rooney makes you feel as if you've just stepped into another world, one shrouded in a mystical cloak, inhabited by characters you'd love to meet. I adored Bryn and Pamela - both strong women with very distinct personalities whose peculiar powers wreak havoc with their private lives. Although I would not necessarily have done what Bryn did were I in her shoes, the choices she makes are tough ones, based on a truly selfless love.
I loved how the Tarot cards were deftly woven into the story - as well as Rooney's succinct explanations of each of them. I never felt like the dialogue was too expository; it all felt very natural.
I recommend this book to those who enjoy reading urban fantasy authors like Melissa Marr and Richelle Mead. You do not need to have read any of the manga that preceded this novel in order to understand it.
