Loving it! The language is poetic, the story is gripping, and the characters are so well fleshed out that I find myself really caring about what is happening to and within them. I was very quickly drawn into the story, and I am anxious to continue!
The author's vocabulary is incredible: I have had to access the dictionary on Kindle several times, but it is fitting vocabulary considering the fact that characters are all highly educated and intelligent. This is a mind-stretching book, not a quick read.
If you love the old classics, you'll love this.

In my novel The Disciple of Beauty, Eric James is a gifted professor of literature stunned by the death of his beloved wife, a man who must somehow evolve from a Don Quixote of secular humanism into a new being, one able to compromise between his previous high-minded idealism and an often harsh reality. I consider it to be serious work of literary fiction, specifically a novel of education. It contains much philosophic thought leavened by humorous wit and plot development, and maintains a sense of poetic romanticism throughout. There is also a bit of conspiracy fiction and science fiction in the mix. I firmly believe that many readers of serious fiction will find the focus here on the deepest questions of life, dramatized in passionate scenes between highly articulate characters, to be uniquely engaging.
