(More customer reviews)Ms. Russell's book of poems, Café Exile, is a rare glimpse into another soul's journey. Written with concise, clear meaning, each poem is a different perspective on her life. Separately they form the facets, another tap of the jeweler's hammer to bring the precious stone to completion.
The book opens with a lively piece about her Grandmother that lays the foundation for the strength to come. The path she takes is not the result of conventional choices, however, they are her choices. The reader feels she wouldn't have wanted it any other way and is thankful for being allowed to witness the story. No, she definitely won't be shot by a jealous lover. (She's far too smart for that now). I am looking forward to another voyeuristic peek into what she will produce as an "old, old woman".
