(More customer reviews)I heard about the Cafe Mima cookbook through a friend recently and I must say it is a real beauty. Finally a book that you really can judge by its cover(gorgeous)!
Get past the cover and you will find an intensely personal and elegant tribute to the author's Cuban heritage. The book is arranged in Menu style, with specials of the day and a la carte items. Just pick a day and you have a whole menu presented to you. The recipes are straightforward and the pictures accompanying each recipe are artfully constructed; they have a very personal, handcrafted feel to them.
Ultimately, however, the proof is in the pudding - so far I have tried Moros y Christianos (rice and beans), Papa Rellena (potato stuffed with ground beef), and Platanos Maduros Fritos (fried ripe bananas). Delicious! I can't wait to work my way through the rest of the menu.
What's not to like? I give it two thumbs up (and five stars).
