(More customer reviews)When a friend told me about this book I wasn't sure I would enjoy reading about the ramblings of pilots and ex-pilots while sitting around a cafe in California. However, as I read the various short stories about real people who spent their lives learning to fly, experiencing flight, and putting those skills to use, I began feeling like a kid again dreaming that it could have been me up there flying around the world, defending this country in war, and maybe showing off my skills for large crowds at shows.
I especially enjoyed the story of the two World War II pilots, one American and one Japanese, who met later in life to realize they both had been in the same battle over a Japanese city and had encountered each other in the sky.
I found the book entertaining, real, and just clean fun. There is a thread of consistency that weaves through each story and a quiet elogance that makes the reader wish to visit the inner circle at the Sky Kitchen Cafe. I highly recommend the book to all who find real world experiences a healthy change from fiction.
